Mountain Gorillas Near Extinction!
ENDANGERED MOUNTAIN GORILLAS NEAR EXTINCTION Recently in Eastern Congo, tragic events unfolded: Rwandan rebels attacked and destroyed Ranger posts that help protect the Mountain Gorillas' shrinking habitat in the Congo, Africa very recently. They caused major damage to the Posts, stole Ranger equipment, weapons, cell-phones and Jeep. Human lives have been lost and these nearly extinct Mountain Gorillas are now left vulnerable and unprotected from these destructive human-beings waging war on their territory. By sending donations directly to Wildlife Direct, we can get much needed money to the Rangers (and their families who are now also in danger) who patrol and protect the Gorilla areas. This is a devastating loss to animal protection causes and further endangers these precious, almost extinct Mountain Gorillas. Here is where you can read about updates on the devastating attacks and damage caused by the rebels as well as the Gorillas' status. You can also donate at this site: http://wildlifedirect.org/blogAdmin/gorilla/ Critically endangered, the entire world population of Mountain Gorillas stands at just under 700, with half the these individuals living in the Democratic Repblic of Congo, near Rwanda. There are no mountain gorillas in captivity. In just seven months, the systematic killings have wiped out a significant proportion of this global population. If we do not stop this massacre, these magnificent creatures will become yet another species lost. The good news is that WE CAN HELP!
